Uplighting

I recently had the opportunity to do some uplighting at the Westin Hilton Head Resort and Spa.  Enough can't be said about what uplighting can do to transform any space or venue.  There are literally thousands of colors to choose from in matching your decor or color theme.  There are also ways to totally transform the rooms color design during the course of the event.  Dinner could be from one color pallet while dancing may have its own theme.  Here are just a few before and after photos.

It's in the Details

This past weekend I lucky enough to be a part of a ceremony where a little extra time was spent on the details.  The bride and groom had an outdoor ceremony on a beautiful May afternoon.  The sun was shining and the sea breeze was blowing.  Family, friends and guests all took their seats as the wedding party made its grand entrance.  As the officiant welcomed guests and began the ceremony, she welcomed 4 very special people to share readings.  Each reading gave a message, 2 of which were poems.  The poems were unique, clever, and made the guests laugh as they were delivered.   As the ceremony continued it was time to for the exchanging of the vows.  The bride and groom had written their own vows.  Each vow and message was heartfelt as it was delivered to each other and there wasn't a dry eye in the crowd.  The messages talked about their experiences together and their commitment to each other.

A little extra time was spent on the details.

As part of a reception, I get to see some of the best (and sometimes not so great) wedding toasts. This is a part of the wedding where guests get to see into the lives of the bride and groom.  Who better to tell their story than the Best Man and Maid of Honor?  What makes good great?  Spending the time on the details.   Make sure the Best Man and Maid of Honor know how important the toast is to you.  I have seen guests fall out of their seats laughing one minute and crying the next from a well thought out toast.

Just as with any part of your special day, a little extra thought and time looking at all the little details will make your day memorable.

Can you hear me now?

Have you heard that line before??  Verizon has made that line famous in their marketing.  Being heard is an important thing.  Not just on your cell phone.

On your wedding day, you want your family and guests to share with you in the exchanging of your vows at your ceremony.  It is a sign of your commitment to each other.   Technology has made it possible, through the use of wireless lavalier microphones, to be heard anywhere.    Your guests will be able to hear every word of the officiant, as well as the bride and groom.   Every location can be supplied with sound, including the beach.  Please feel free to contact me to learn how sound and music can make your ceremony more memorable.

All Good Things Come to an End. All Great Things Have a Planned Ending!

One of the saddest things to think about is the fact that your party will have to end.  All good things must come to an end.  But do you just want things to fizzle?  Your guests, who have been dancing for hours, will eventually tire after the fantastic day of celebration.   It is important while planning your day to think about how you will end your celebration.  What time will your celebration end?  What kind of ending would I like?  Will I have sparklers, bubbles or some other celebratory exit?  Will I have a last dance?  These are things to think about or better yet, ask about.   Giving your event the proper ending will put the exclamation point on a great day!

Some venues will have a set time that your reception must end.  If your guests are the partying type that will not let the party die it may be a good idea to think about an after party at another location.  Think about arranging transportation to and from that location to make sure all your guests stay safe.

Memories and Music

Are you getting married in your 20's, 30's, 40's or beyond?  No matter what age you are, there is a song, a band or maybe even a musical obsession that in some way is a part of who you are.  Sure, a great DJ will play the songs that will get your guests up and dancing but do they have a special meaning to you?  I remember cruising around in my car as a teen.  The windows were down, the car was full of my friends and we would crank up some great songs.  Now, years later, if I hear one of those songs it puts me back in that car with my friends.  I can almost smell the summer air.  Music will always create an emotion.  It may be a current song that you may just like to sing to at work or it may be a trip down memory lane.   Create a list of some of your favorites and share them with your entertainer.  Make your special day a part of who you are. Why not take a trip down memory lane while you are creating memories of a lifetime!

Budgeting For Your Entertainment

One of the often overlooked processes in planning your wedding is creating a wedding budget.  There are countless details in every wedding.  Some parts of your plans are high priority and important such as venue choice and location, dinner menu, and the brides dress.  Then there are the numerous small details that really tie the entire event together.  But every part of your day has a cost.

In the overall percentage of a wedding budget, entertainment is only going to account for a small portion of your overall budget.  But in terms of your overall wedding experience, the value of great entertainment is the largest percentage of a great experience.  Music plays a huge part in any celebration.  From the first note of a ceremony to the last note of the final dance, music helps guide the mood and tone of a wedding.

It's important to look at all the costs associated with the entertainers that you are interviewing for your big day.  But it is equally important to make sure that, whatever your budget may be, you are getting the entertainment company that will keep you dancing and make it the celebration of a lifetime.
